Bulk Strike Off Status Screening
Send your vendor or customer list and get the MCA status of every company back, with anything other than Active flagged for review.
A struck-off company no longer legally exists as a going concern. Its bank accounts are usually frozen, its GSTIN is liable to cancellation and its directors may be disqualified. Find out which of your vendors and customers are struck off before you pay them, claim their credit or close your accounts.
Check company and LLP status against the MCA register.
Screen your whole vendor and customer list, not one CIN at a time.
A struck-off vendor or customer is a payment risk, an input tax credit risk and a disclosure you have to make in your financial statements.
Since FY 2021-22, companies must disclose every transaction and balance with a company struck off under Section 248 or 560: its name, the nature of transactions, the balance outstanding and the relationship. You cannot make this disclosure without knowing the status of every counterparty.
A struck-off supplier’s GSTIN is liable to cancellation, and credit on invoices from a cancelled GSTIN can be denied. Check the GSTIN alongside the company status.
Advances paid to a dissolved company are hard to recover, its bank accounts are usually frozen, and it cannot sign new contracts.
Payments that continue against the PAN of a dissolved entity create TDS and vendor-master mismatches that surface later, usually at audit.
The check on the MCA portal is free, one company at a time.
Open mca.gov.in and go to MCA Services → Master Data → View Company or LLP Master Data.
Enter the CIN or LLPIN (more reliable than the name) and complete the captcha.
Read the Company Status (or LLP Status) field.
Note the date of the last AGM and balance sheet filed. A company that has not filed for years is at risk even if it still shows Active.
Save a screenshot or PDF with the date. It is your due-diligence evidence.
Alternative lookup
Vendor masters usually hold the PAN and GSTIN, but the MCA search works on CIN, LLPIN or name. Match the PAN to the CIN first.
Check the PAN type. The fourth character of a PAN shows the holder type: “C” for a company, “F” for a firm or LLP. Only a “C” PAN will have a CIN.
Get the legal name from the GSTIN. On gst.gov.in, Search Taxpayer → Search by PAN shows the GSTINs and legal name registered against that PAN.
Search the name on MCA. Enter the legal name in View Company or LLP Master Data, pick the matching company and confirm the registered office matches the vendor’s address.
Look at the invoice. A company must print its CIN on its letterheads, invoices and other business documents (Section 12(3)(c), Companies Act 2013).
Don't stop at the status label. Understand what it means and what action it requires.
| Status on MCA | What it means | What you should do |
|---|---|---|
Active | Registered and filing | No action; re-check periodically |
Active Non-Compliant | Has not filed the INC-22A (ACTIVE) form | Ask the company why; it is barred from some filings |
Under Process of Striking Off | ROC notice (STK-1/STK-5) issued, or voluntary STK-2 filed | Stop advances, settle dues, get confirmation of status |
Strike Off | Name removed; company stands dissolved (Section 248(5)) | Stop payments and new orders; review GST credit and balances |
Dormant | Obtained dormant status under Section 455 | Should have no significant transactions; question any invoices |
Under Liquidation / Liquidated | Winding up under the Companies Act or IBC | Deal only through the liquidator |
Amalgamated | Merged into another company | Update the vendor master to the successor entity |
“Strike Off” means the name has been removed from the Register of Companies under Section 248. “Under Process of Striking Off” means a notice has been issued and the company can still object. Exact labels on the portal may differ slightly.
A CIN has 21 characters. It is valid only if the MCA portal returns a company whose name, state and incorporation year match what the vendor told you. LLPs have an LLPIN instead (format AAA-1234).
Remember
characters make up a CIN.
| Part | Example | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| 1st character | U | Listing status: L (listed) or U (unlisted) |
| Next 5 digits | 72200 | Industry (activity) code |
| Next 2 letters | MH | State of registration |
| Next 4 digits | 2015 | Year of incorporation |
| Next 3 letters | PTC | Company type, e.g. PTC (private), PLC (public), NPL (Section 8) |
| Last 6 digits | 123456 | Registration number with the ROC |
The certificate of incorporation is treated as cancelled (Section 250). The company exists only to recover dues and settle liabilities.
The liability of directors and members continues as if the company had not been dissolved (Section 248(7)).
Directors of a company that failed to file financial statements or annual returns for three years are disqualified for five years (Section 164(2)).
Restoration is possible through the NCLT under Section 252: within 3 years of the ROC order for an aggrieved person, or within 20 years of the Gazette notice for the company, a member, a creditor or a workman.
The MCA portal checks one company at a time. Figment checks your whole list.
Send your vendor or customer list and get the MCA status of every company back, with anything other than Active flagged for review.
Confirm company registration details from MCA records inside your own ERP or onboarding portal through Figment’s Company Verification API.
VenCPC keeps a single vendor master with PAN, GSTIN and MSME validation and maker-checker approvals, so a status change is caught before the payment run.
Check the GST registration of the same vendors, so a struck-off supplier with a cancelled GSTIN is caught before you claim the credit.

Vendor status checks are part of
PAN to CIN, CIN verification, then a strike off status check on every verified CIN.
Map every company vendor’s PAN to its CIN, and store the CIN next to the PAN in your vendor master.
Confirm the name, state and incorporation year returned for each CIN match what the vendor told you.
Flag every status other than Active, hold payments where needed and keep the dated result for audit.
A few simple checkpoints can help you catch vendor-status issues before they turn into compliance or payment problems.
Checkpoint 1
Before a vendor or customer is created in the master.
Checkpoint 2
Before advances and high-value payment runs.
Checkpoint 3
For all active vendors, with the check date recorded.
Checkpoint 4
For the Schedule III struck-off companies disclosure.

Ask us directly. On mca.gov.in, open MCA Services → Master Data → View Company or LLP Master Data, enter the CIN, LLPIN or name and read the Company Status field. "Strike Off" means the name has been removed from the Register of Companies. The check is free.
"Strike Off" means the company’s name has been removed from the register under Section 248 and it stands dissolved. "Under Process of Striking Off" means the ROC has issued a notice (STK-1/STK-5) or the company has applied in STK-2, and objections can still be made. Stop advances and settle dues while the status is pending.
A company applies in Form STK-2 with a fee of ₹10,000. Applications are processed centrally by C-PACE (Centre for Processing Accelerated Corporate Exit). LLPs apply in Form 24.
Yes, through the NCLT under Section 252. An aggrieved person can appeal within 3 years of the ROC’s order, and the company, a member, a creditor or a workman can apply within 20 years of the Gazette notice. The NCLT order must be filed with the ROC within 30 days.
Since FY 2021-22, Schedule III requires companies to disclose every transaction and balance with a company struck off under Section 248 or 560: its name, the nature of transactions (investments, receivables, payables, shares held or other), the balance outstanding and the relationship.
Confirm the fourth character of the PAN is "C", get the legal name from the GSTIN search by PAN on gst.gov.in, then search that name on the MCA master data page. The CIN is also printed on the company’s invoices and letterheads. For many vendors, use a bulk PAN to CIN tool or API.
CIN status is the company status shown on the MCA register against a Corporate Identification Number, such as Active, Strike Off, Under Process of Striking Off, Dormant or Amalgamated.
The MCA portal checks one company at a time. Figment screens a full vendor or customer list against MCA records and flags every status other than Active, and VenCPC keeps the result in a single vendor master so changes are caught before the payment run.
