Points practitioners should note
Undisclosed income relating to international or specified domestic transactions for the part tax year is assessed outside the block assessment provisions (Section 293(5)) and is not included in ITR-BN. For a year whose return due date had not expired on the search date, provisional figures from the books are reported; this is not treated as the regular return, and the income must still be included in the regular return for that year. References to tax years beginning on or before 1 April 2025 are read as the corresponding previous years under the Income-tax Act, 1961. The notification states that no person is adversely affected by the retrospective effect from 1 April 2026.
Applies to searches from 1 April 2026
